Depict Production Diary

4th October 2012

Day one-
On day one we spent the time figuring out our synopsis, props and costumes. Here is our synopsis:

Synopsis for Depict entry





At the start of the film there will be a crane down to a girl with his teddy on a swing, it will zoom in to a close up of the faces of joy of the girl and the teddy. It will then cut to a shot following the girl and the teddy walking down the street, the camera will go to a Point of view shot of them getting ready to cross the road, they look to the left and then cross the road. It goes back to an extreme long shot of the car going into the girl and the teddy in slow motion, the teddy is thrown up into the air, the camera rapidly zooms in towards the teddy leaving just the teddy in the frame. We then get a distorted picture to show that the teddy is having a flashback of different things that have happened in the past with the girl and the teddy. We see them eating an ice-cream and building a sand castle then jumping on it, then see them playing football, at a tea party, on their  birthday, being tucked up at bed time, in a café. We then cut back to the teddy as it bounces off the bonnet and finishes next to the girl lying on the floor, with his arm mutilated. After this we get a shot of the teddy on a swing on its own with a bandage around his arm. We hear the sound of the cars in the background and it cuts to the car that ran them over, the credits for the film appear on the side of the car.

9th of October  

Day two-

Lesson one- On day two we began our story boards for the piece we plan to produce. The story board consists of  duration of each shot, the locations, the camera directions, edits, music/sound effects and dialogue.

Lesson two-Again we continued to finish our story boards and one slight problem we had was we had to much time so we cut a couple of seconds of here and there which made the difference and probably will improve our end product. We also dedicated roles and decided what props and costumes we`d need to go out and get.

10th of October 

Lesson one-Today we started our location reece's which is where we will be shooting our piece. Here are the pictures of the pictures so far:



Lesson two- This lesson we started the main paper work for our piece. We also wrote up the reeces for the piece of where we will film.

11th of October

Day Three

Lesson one-Today we finished off the last bits of paper work like the production schedule, the minor releases for our actors/actress', contact list, the risk assessment, releases and reeces an police emails.

Lesson two- Being as we had finished all of the paper work for the filming to go ahead we could start filming this lesson, so my group went down to our chosen destination and started to film. The scenes we got filmed were the first 4 shots. I believe all 4 shots after 3 takes went quite well and were enjoyable to act in.

12th of October

Day Four

Lesson one and two-Again we carried on filming in this double lesson and it was a very good session. We managed to get the whole of the opening scene and that means all we have left to film is the flash back scene and the end credits. We also decided that if we didn't like any of the scenes at the end and we have some time were going to re-shoot them and get them right.

16th of October

Day Five

Lesson one and two- Today is one of our last days filming and unfortunatly one of our group was not here so we struggaled a little being able to film a few shots. Fortunatly we managed to film a few more shots which meant we only had a few left over. We managed to get the shots done inside the college meaning the only shots left to film were the end credits the last couple oafter the flash backs and two flash back shots.

17th of October

Day Six

Lesson one- Today we finished our last few shots of filming and started to edit all the keeps together. We all took it in turns to edit 2 shots each.

Lesson two- This lesson we carried on editing some more shots together and still have a quite far to go. 

19th of October

Day seven

Lesson one and Lesson two- Today we carried on editing with all of the shots for the clip.
